Jethrow Engines LLC

GA still flies on 1930s engine architecture.

The client deck frames the opportunity around outdated ignition, carburetor-ice risk, limited redundancy in experimental installations, and a large reliability gap versus turbine engines.

1930s

Magneto-era ignition architecture

~250

Carburetor-ice accidents cited over 12 years

12.7

0.15

Why Now

MOSAIC just removed the barrier.

Before

Traditional certification economics

Now — 14 CFR Part 22

ASTM route for S-LSA

What We Are Building

Two engines. Both first of their kind.

Piston — Already Flying

$37K–$50K

300–425 HP

Half the price of a factory-new Lycoming or Continental — with dual everything as standard, not as options.

Turbine Turboprop

<$250K

300–500 SHP

This is in a lightly served power band, with a new, warranted and factory-supported target product. The Veloce Twin will be its already-existing market.

Not Renderings

Both piston engines already exist.

Naturally aspirated

Installed in the airframe, cowling off, with over 40 flight hours and already performing wonderfully.

Turbocharged

On the engine dyno stand. No one else offers a turbo LS/LT in this configuration, and we do it at less weight than a six-cylinder Lycoming or Continental.

Reliability

The first piston aircraft engine with no single point of failure.

2× Dual ECU

Either unit runs the engine alone.

2× Dual sensors

The deck identifies sensors as a common real failure point.

2× Dual fuel systems

The deck states fuel causes 27% of engine failures.

2× Dual ignition

Electronic. No magnetos, no AD inspections.

The Numbers

Where the reliability gap sits

Mechanical failures per 100,000 flight hours, as presented in the client pitch deck.

The Turbine

Nobody sells a new turboprop this size for this price.

300–500 SHP

The target power band for the new turboprop.

<$250,000

New. Warranted. Factory-supported.

At 500 HP the buyer is not replacing a Lycoming. He is buying power no piston can give him.

The Team

Nine people. Four disciplines.

1

Program lead — Oxford-trained, single point of accountability

2

Turbine expert + one graduate student

3

Combustion expert + one graduate student

4

Rotary expert + one graduate student

The Plan

Start from proven. Add what nobody has — Hybrid.

1

Start with a patent-expired engine

The thermodynamics and failure modes are already proven.

2

Add the hybrid mechanism and dual architecture

The contribution is the redundancy layer the deck says nobody ships.

3

Qualify to ASTM, not FAA type certification

Statement of compliance; years and millions removed from the path described in the deck.

4

Go into production

Half the raise is production capital, not development.

Use of Funds

$1,000,000 — half of it is production.

$500K

Engineering & development

The full nine-person team to a running engine.

$500K

Production

Tooling, first run and inventory.
No founder salary is drawn from this raise. AeroVolare engine work also sits in the same budget.

De-Risking

What you're going to ask.

“Others promised this and never delivered.”

The founder’s prior FDA-clearance experience and the new MOSAIC Part 22 framework solve this.

“Small turbines burn twice the fuel.”

The 500 HP use case is about performance, not efficiency, and the demand changes the fuel-cost decision for many.

“Others already sell LS conversions.”

Yes, but they do it with a heavier V8 that is not turbocharged. We also have redundant dual-channel architecture, ASTM qualification and factory support.

“A field overhaul of a Lycoming is $50,000. You’re not cheaper.”

Yes, but that price requires a core. A field overhaul assumes an existing run-out core, while a new aircraft does not have one.

Demand

We are our own first customer — Veloce Planes.

$16M

Signed orders with deposits

38 planes and kits sold. 8 flying. The deck states every one needs an engine currently bought from someone else.

Production

An engine company that starts with a captive order book is a different risk than one starting with a prototype.

The Ask

$1,000,000

for 20%

Half builds the turbine turboprop engine. Half builds the line that makes it.

✓ Regulatory window open — Part 22

✓ Captive first customer — $16M Veloce order book

✓ Team assembled — nine people

✓ Two first-of-their-kind engines

Investor Questions

Questions the deck already answers.

What makes the piston engine different?
Dual ECU, dual sensors, dual fuel systems and dual electronic ignition, with the target of eliminating a single point of failure.
The client deck distinguishes an overhaul that requires an existing core from a new-aircraft buyer who has no run-out core to exchange.
The deck attributes the timing to MOSAIC / Part 22 and ASTM standards, which it says materially change the certification economics for S-LSA.
$500K to engineering and development and $500K to production, according to the client deck.
The deck says names and CVs are available under NDA.
